Art & Display

Across 15 locations, Orange County Library System features exhibitions from local, national and international artists.  These exhibitions provide a platform for artists of diverse talents and mediums while simultaneously offering culturally enriching experiences to library visitors. The library also maintains an informative exhibit area on the second floor of Orlando Public Library. This space features illuminating and interactive exhibits curated by OCLS staff.

Generations of Imagination:
A Mother-Daughter Art Journey

Eatonville Branch

A vibrant exhibition that celebrates the creative bond between a mother and her teenage daughter. The mother’s work highlights traditional techniques and rich symbolism, exploring themes of resilience and self-discovery through striking contrasts. Her daughter’s pieces reflect fresh perspectives and modern influences, capturing the spirit of adolescence and individuality. Together, their art invites viewers on a heartfelt journey of connection, growth, and imagination that bridges generations.

Soleil Franceschi (Daughter), Artist Statement: Creating art will forever evoke feelings and emotions I may not have even realized I had. It lets me further develop my ideas and life onto a canvas that creatively depicts and captures them.

Rebeca Marrero (Mother), Artist Statement: Creating art has been a mental health tool that has assisted me through my journey. I truly believe creative expression through art is the best medicine! The colorful contrast of my art against the black background, captures the feeling of wanting to break out of the darkness we can fall into.

The Town That Freedom Built – A Photography Exhibition

Orlando Public Library, Melrose Gallery

This striking exhibition captures the spirit, history, and enduring contributions of the Eatonville community, celebrating its role as a cornerstone of African American Heritage.

The Town that Freedom Built honors the vibrant cultural legacy of Eatonville, one of the first self-governing all-black municipalities in the United States. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Eatonville History Preservation Project, organized by the Eatonville Library, eSTEAMED Learning, Inc., and Lisa G. Moore.

Attend the gallery opening at the Melrose Center on Thursday, July 10 at 4 p.m.

Society of American Mosaic Artists Exhibit

The Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) began as a small group of mosaic artists wanting to share their knowledge and passion for this ancient art form. After 24 years, it thrives with support from artists, fans, collectors, suppliers and educators.

Orlando Modern Quilt Guild Exhibit

The Orlando Modern Quilt Guild is a local chapter that meets monthly for sew days, workshops and charity quilt projects. Their mission is to inspire, educate and support members in modern quilting. The guild also helps the community by making quilts and fabric projects for those in need.
